Notepad now has a dark mode and tiered and Microsoft is giving its legendary text editor a visual overhaul for Windows 11 along with new features to help programmers and others who rely on Notepad in their daily workflows be more productive.
According to a new blog post, the redesigned notebook for Windows 11 is now rolling out to all Windows Insiders on the Dev Channel, with the software giant encouraging users to submit suggestions to further improve its portal. comments posted recently.
Notepad users will immediately notice that the app now has a completely updated user interface that aligns with the new Windows 11 visual design, including rounded corners, mica, and more. However, one of the most requested new features in Notepad is dark mode.
By default, Notepad in Windows 11 adapts to your system’s theme settings, but you can change this option on the new software settings page, which is also the new font options homepage.
Find and replace and multi-level undo
The current version of Notepad that comes with Windows 11 includes the text search tool and the find and replace tool in two separate pop-up windows accessible with two different keyboard shortcuts. Fortunately, with its new Notepad redesign, Microsoft combines these two tools into a much more efficient floating bar and should help improve user productivity.
Another big change in the next version of Notepad will replace the software’s old undo system, which only allows users to undo once with multiple undo steps. As with other modern apps, users can now undo multiple actions, giving them a bit more flexibility when typing.
Despite all these new features, word wrapping in Notepad is still disabled by default but is now more easily accessible from the View menu.
With Windows Insiders testing Microsoft’s redesigned Notepad app, it will likely be released in an update for other Windows 11 users sometime next year.
