When Windows 11 launches on October 5, it won’t include its most surprising feature – Android app support. Microsoft alluded to the delay in a Tuesday blog post for the next version of Windows 11. “We look forward to continuing our journey to bring Android apps to Windows 11 and the Microsoft Store through our collaboration with Amazon and Intel. it will start with a preview of Windows Insider in the coming months, ”the company wrote.
Windows 11 starts in about six weeks. So, the timing means that Android app support will not reach Windows 11 internal/beta versions until after the October release date.
Microsoft typically spends weeks or months tweaking a beta feature before it goes mainstream. Therefore, support for Android apps is not expected until 2022.
Redmond didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment, so it’s unclear why there is a delay. However, the company is expanding support for the Android app with Amazon and Intel. So it could be a question of softening the technology or the trade associations involved.
Windows 11 will be able to support Android apps thanks to Intel’s bridging technology, which can translate Android code to run natively on an x86-based computer. This will likely include Intel and AMD-based PCs. Therefore, you can add Android apps to the Windows 11 Start menu or taskbar and run them on the desktop.
Microsoft plans to offer the apps by adding Amazon’s Android app store to Microsoft’s store on Windows 11. In addition, Microsoft announced that the operating system can also run Android APKs from other third-party stores and application sources.
