The Google Clock app for Android devices recently saw an influx of one-star reviews on the Play Store due to the mysterious silence of the alarm clocks. But it seems that the cause is not the app itself, but the origin of the audio.
Usually, when setting an alarm in the Clock app, the sound is played when it rings, but this does not happen for some users anymore. As Liliputing reports, Spotify seems to be the culprit and more specifically which alarm Spotify uses as an audio source to play the alarm.
Google is aware of the problem and is working on a fix, but for now, it is recommended that Android users stop using Spotify for alarm sounds. Instead, select audio in device audio while you wait for the fix to take effect. Anyone who didn’t know that you could use Spotify in this feature will probably be glad they didn’t hear about this feature, but it was first introduced in 2018.
According to a post on the Spotify community site, the Spotify update issue emerged on August 24, with Google only confirming on September 3 that a fix was in the works. Very confused about the failed alarms they surely had set off. But it turned out that it wasn’t their fault and that they didn’t go crazy or deaf.
