Firefox Homepage Redesign on Android, iOS

Mozilla today released a complete overhaul of the Firefox homepage for Android and iOS users. The new design is based on user feedback and makes the homepage a returning point to pick up where you left off when you were online. Mozilla says it’s also about “saving time and mental space and removing the visual clutter that can often overwhelm us.”

The home page is now set to quickly display a wide variety of content, including recently saved bookmarks and new searches grouped by topic. There is also an eyelash area that is clearly designed. This means that any tabs you leave open will now go to “inactive state” after 14 days without a visit. These tabs are still accessible, but they no longer clutter the user interface. You can also use the “Re-enter” function to quickly return to the last active tab (or quickly start a new search).

The Pocket Stories experience has also been updated, with a variety of topics introduced and under user control. The topics displayed can be personalized so that you always have access to fresh content with a much higher probability that the topics displayed will focus on the topics that are really important to you. For now, the customization option is limited to Android devices, but hopefully, it will be released for the iOS version in the near future.

The new homepage experience should be available to all Android and iOS users using the latest version of the mobile browser.
