Google presented the news last night at The Game Awards. Google is preparing to officially introduce Android games to Windows PCs next year. The company announced the news in a short video during the Game Awards on Thursday. “Get ready to play your favorite mobile games on your PC,” Google joked in the clip. According to The Verge, the company plans to bring the games to Windows PCs through a new Google
Play Games app for Microsoft’s operating system. The same app can also sync your cloud gaming session across all devices. So you can play your games on an Android smartphone and pick up where you left off when switching to Windows PC.
“This Google-developed product brings the best of Google Play Games to more laptops and desktops, and we’re excited to expand our platform so gamers can enjoy their favorite Android games even more,” said Greg Harrell, the company’s chief product officer.
The big question is how Google is going to port games to the Windows operating system. A company spokesperson told We’ll have more to say about the New Years’ launch, but what we can say is that this is a new experience that will allow gamers to download and play their favorite games from Google Play on their desktop. it will not include streaming games. Google will distribute the app and the games themselves.
Users can now use emulators for Windows to run Android games on the operating system. However, the upcoming Google Play Games app is set to deliver an even better experience, especially with the ability to sync with the cloud. The news also comes as Microsoft prepares to support Android apps for Windows 11. However, the company is doing so without the Google Play Store. Instead, Microsoft is working with Amazon’s mobile app store to deliver Android apps.
To run Android software, Microsoft adds a new component in Windows 11 called “Windows Subsystem for Android” which is basically supposed to load the Android operating system into a Hyper-V virtual machine. Windows 11 connoisseurs can try this feature out today.
