Dwayne Douglas Johnson (The Rock) was born in a professional wrestling family on May 2, 1972, in Hayward, California. His parents are Ata Johnson and professional wrestler Rocky Johnson. His father, originally from Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada, is Black (from Nova Scotia) and his mother is from Samoa (his own father was Peter Fanene Maivia, also a professional fighter). Growing up, Dwayne traveled extensively with her parents and watched her father play in the ring. During his studies, Dwayne started playing football and was soon awarded a scholarship from the University of Miami, where he enjoyed great success as a footballer. In 1995, Dwayne suffered a back injury that cost him a place in the NFL. He then signed a three-year contract with the Canadian League but left after a year career in the fight.

Outside of the fight, The Rock had a successful acting career, gave up the stage name and simply went by Dwayne Johnson. He first made a splash in The Mummy Returns in 2001 as a king of scorpions, a supernatural evil. Johnson returned to the position of the scorpion king the following year. He tried comedy and was seen in 2005 on Be Cool with John Travolta and Uma Thurman and in 2007 on The Game Plan.
‘Driver,’ ‘Fast & Furious’ Franchise
Johnson’s acting career flourished with appearances in such films as Driver (2010) and Fast & Furious 6 (2013). In 2014, he was the strongman of the title in Hercules. Johnson also returned to the fight occasionally, including in 2014 with Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania 30.
